Named the 8th friendliest bike city by Bicycling Magazine, New York continues to earn the recognition it deserves for the efforts of its pedaling population. Criteria included “smart, savvy bike shops” and a “vibrant and diverse bike culture,” all elements New Yorkers have been enjoying for years. With the support of transportation commissioner Janette Sadik-Khan and the ever-growing biking community, we wouldn’t be surprised if New York jumps even closer to the #1 spot on the next list.
What’s that photo? It’s our new flagship store in Hong Kong!
It’s been pretty dreary here in New York for a couple of days, but now the weather is beautiful. But since I didn’t see any rainbow after the sky cleared up, there’s probably no pot of gold either. But there is the fantastic St. Patrick’s Day parade going down 5th Avenue as we speak!
I’d go join in, instead I’m updating our blog to tell all of you that we will be sharing the celebration by offering a free pouch (this one) with an order of any green or olive colored bag on manhattanportage.com today or tomorrow! Just write “SHAMROCK” in the notes/comments section when you check out!
Which Irish pub are you going to tonight?
Hey look! We just got in a new batch of stickers! They come in two color combinations: white on red, and white on transparent (those stickers in the photo are yellow because of the waxed paper).
Get one free with your order on manhattanportage.com! Just write in the notes/comments section when you check out:
To get the red sticker write:Â “I WANT RED MP STICKER!”
To get the transparent one write:Â “I WANT OTHER MP STICKER!”
To get both (or more):Â “I NEED MP STICKERS!”
You know you want both.
One of our new models, the Vinyl Sidekick (1405-VL), is actually not completely new. We used to produce this style using Cordura nylon fabric a number of years back, but was discontinued when we made similar bags such as the East Village (1408). Now back by popular demand, this resurrected model now features a tarpaulin vinyl exterior, making it 100% waterproof.
The short Velcro flap of the Sidekick makes it very easy to open and close with one hand, even while on a bike or in tight spaces. The bright vinyl colors will keep you safe at night-time and set you apart from the crowd wherever you go. This little buddy is sure to be there where you need him!
If you’ve checked out our web store in the past week or so, you may have noticed that we’ve released a number of new items. One of them is the Empire Jr, the smaller and lighter version of the Empire Bag, the second release of our signature Black Label collection.
Whereas the original Empire was designed from the ground up for professional messengers and is sized accordingly, the new Empire Jr is scaled down for casual use. It’s made with all the same quality materials and construction that makes our Black Label bags indestructible, but it’s smaller and lighter, making it ideal for day trips and biking/hiking expeditions.
Don’t worry – unless you make a living delivering packages, this smaller Empire can still fit anything and everything you would ever want to carry on your back.
