Global Festival 2012

A good cause and great music? Sounds nice to us! On September 29th in Central Park, The Black Keys, Foo Fighters and Neil Young with Crazy Horse will headline one of this year’s hottest concerts, but don’t bother trying to buy tickets.

Fans will have to earn entry to this awesome concert by taking action against extreme poverty around the world through a website and app.

“The scale of things that they’re trying do just felt really cool, and we’re trying to get the ball rolling,” said Patrick Carney, The Black Keys’ drummer. “Especially with everything that’s been going on for the last three years, I suppose, after the stock market crashed. There’s attention on the amount of people living below the poverty line and the disparity between the rich and the poor and everything that’s going on now … . It just felt like the right time to do something.”

So, how do you do it? Fans can attend through a special lottery of 54,000 tickets. You will earn your way by a point system awarded for charitable acts performed through the Global Citizen website. To earn points you can making postings on social media, donate money to charity or sign a petition, among other simple activities.

The overall goal is to raise $500 million in practical solutions by leveraging commitments from the world’s leaders while they’re in New York.

Organizer, Hugh Evans said “A difference can be made for children trapped in extreme poverty with a polio vaccine that costs just 30 cents. A Tuesday news release announcing the project says there are an estimated 1.3 billion people living on the equivalent of less than $1.50 a day.

“I think what’s exciting is all the world leaders are going to be in town that week for the United Nations meeting,” Evans said in a phone interview. “And this concert and the associated campaign will give us the opportunity to ask these world leaders to make practical and tangible monetary commitments to the world’s poor and to the achievement of the UN’s Millenium Development Goals.”

We think it’s very important to give back to the community and help others in need, and if we can do this with an amazing concert at the same time- this is just genius!

MAGIC Marketplace

Hey guys! We are so excited because we are going to the MAGIC Marketplace Tradeshow in Las Vegas from August 20th-22nd!

MAGIC marketplace is one of the oldest fashion trade shows in the US and was founded in 1933. It’s an all around men’s apparel and fashion guide.

We exhibit in one of the newer sections of the show: S.L.A.T.E. (Skate, Lifestyle, Athletic, Trend, Emergence) which is more focused on fashion forward, lifestyle and street wear brands.

Oh, and our booth number is #38034, so if you are going to be there, come say hi!

After we get back from the show we will share more juicy details and photos from the show with all of you.

Hope to see you there!

Show Luo Rocks Manhattan Portage in Hong Kong!

Have you ever heard of Show Luo? Well.. he is kind of a big deal in Asia! Show is known as “The Asian Dance King” by Taiwanese media and a down to earth goofball by everyone who personally knows him.

Show started playing drums and having a passion for performing from the age of 3. He grew up performing and singing with his mother and helping his father host elite parties and events. Today Show is an extremely famous singer and dancer.

None of Show’s success has gone to his head whatsoever. Show is extremely connected to his fans and even stayed at an event once for over 10 hours to make sure every one had the chance to get a photo and his signature. When fans give Show gifts he tells them the best gift they could give him is to give to charity. Yes, he is famous and talented- but he is extremely genuine and caring and this is why he is our main spokesperson for Manhattan Portage.

Just last week, Show hosted a promotional event in Hong Kong promoting our brand and we had to share the awesome video with you! Looks like everyone had a blast.

What do you think? Were you at the event? Maybe you can find yourself in the video! If not, wouldn’t you love to meet Show Luo?

Cheers,

-MP
